Enjoy the Outdoors at Nesmith Library!
Our outdoor space is a welcoming extension of the library, offering a beautiful setting for programs, play, and relaxation. Whether attending an event or simply enjoying the fresh air, visitors of all ages can make the most of this engaging space year-round.
We invite you to visit, play, and explore our outdoor spaces at Nesmith Library!
The Story Garden
Our enclosed Story Garden is a favorite spot for special events like our summer tie-dye program and regularly scheduled activities such as STEAM programs and storytimes. During the warmer months, this inviting area is often filled with learning, laughter, and creativity. When not in use for programs, the Story Garden is open to the public. A perfect place to read, relax, or play!
StoryWalk
Installed in summer 2022, our permanent StoryWalk was made possible in large part by funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This interactive outdoor reading experience allows families to enjoy a story page by page as they walk around the garden. The featured book changes regularly, so there’s always something new to explore! Take a seat at our picnic table or under the shaded tree and make a day of it.
Outdoor Musical Instruments
🎶 Exciting news! Installed in 2025, we've introduced three outdoor musical instruments to our Story Garden. Visitors will be able to explore the sounds of a xylophone, harp drum, and pedestal pipes, adding a new interactive element to our outdoor space. These instruments will be available for public use from spring through fall.
