We had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year! We rang in the "Year of the Monkey" with a skit performed by Windham children, a tea ceremony demonstration, and an authentic Lion Dance demonstration. Several Windham teens serenaded the audience with traditional Chinese instruments. After the performances, we enjoyed a sampling of Chinese food that was graciously donated by area restaurants. There were also several monkey and dragon-themed crafts for the children to create.Congratulations to the raffle winners. Many thanks to the Friends of the Library of Windham for donating the raffle prizes. Celebrating the Chinese New Year was an exciting event and a unique, cultural experience!
