On Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:30pm, come meet award-winning filmmaker, Ben Wickey, when he screens his animated short, “The House of the Seven Gables,” based on the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Clocking in at about 30 minutes, this film won Best Adaptation at the 2018 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, and was an Official Selection at 5 additional film festivals that year.

On Monday, October 7th, CVS will be running a flu shot clinic at the Nesmith Library from 9 AM to 12 PM. Registration is required through CVS, and you must have insurance. Join us on Thursday, October 24th at 6pm when local artist, Tif Farmakis-Day, will lead us in the art of sculpting in wool! Using wool roving and sharp barbed needles, we will create our own needle felted critter! Create a cat, dog, horse, pig or make up your own creature. Use your imagination! There are endless possibilities once you have learned the technique. Open to all skill levels, and all materials, including instructional handouts, will be provided. Puzzled by Medicare? Not sure where to start? Join us on Tuesday, October 1st, at 6pm as Dr. Tanya Feke leads a fun and interactive talk about Medicare. Not only will you learn the basics, such as how the Medicare program works, but you will also discover tips on how to pick the best Medicare plan, learn where you can cut out-of-pocket costs, and hear about what changes to look for in the upcoming enrollment period. Feeling overwhelmed by clutter? Wondering how to pare down and streamline, but not sure where to begin? Join us on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:00pm as Carol Martin-Ward, Certified Professional Organizer and owner of Practical Organizing Solutions, helps us declutter and sort our stuff. Carol will talk about establishing goals, formulating a plan, and suggest the best methods and tools to get the job done. At the end of the workshop, there will be a raffle for one free hour of Carol’s organizing services!
Get ready for autumn by creating a beautiful garland with leaves and glitter! Shimmery reds, golds, and coppers will welcome in fall in spectacular fashion! All supplies will be provided, and be sure to wear old clothes because glitter doesn’t always behave. Ages 16 and up, and registration is required. We are starting our very own book group! The first meeting of the Nesmith Library Book Group will be Wednesday, October 9th at 6:30pm. We’ll meet every month, on the second Wednesday of the month, at 6:30pm for about an hour. Books will be available about a month before we meet, so our first book, Burial Rites by Hannah Kent, will be ready for pickup on September 9th. They will be located on our “holds shelf." Look for the “Nesmith Library Book Group” section, pick one up, and bring it to the front desk to be checked out.
Starting June 3rd, the Adult Summer Reading Program is on! For every adult book read or adult audiobook listened to (library materials only, please) and for every adult program attended, you will earn a raffle ticket to for a chance to win one of 3 fabulous prizes!
