New England is known for its history and traditions, but it is also home to some daring and inventive modern designs from some of the world's leading architects. On Thursday, May 25 at 7 PM, join Nesmith Library in conjunction with other GMILCS libraries for the second event in our Art Series with Jane Oneail, Revolutionary Design: Modern Architecture in New England. In this virtual Zoom presentation, we will discover how giants in the field like Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Louis Kahn, Philip Johnson, and Maya Lin combine the expected and the familiar with the innovative and experimental. This program will introduce us to each architect and walk us through their notable works in New England locales.
Jane Oneail is an independent scholar and holds a master’s degree in Art History from Boston University and a master’s degree in Art in Education from Harvard University. Jane is a New Hampshire native and has worked at some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, where she served as Executive Director, and the Currier Museum of Art, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane has also taught at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at the NH Institute of Art. Find out more about Jane, and her art programs, on her website: iamculturallycurious.com
