Jackson Pollock is the famous originator of the drip and splatter paintings that came to epitomize Abstract Expressionism at the middle of the twentieth century. Pollock served as the de facto leader of the movement, a masculine cowboy representing “action painting.” Only in recent years has the art world turned its attention to the contributions of women artists working at the same time, including Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollock’s wife. On Thursday, September 21 at 7 PM, join the Nesmith Library in conjunction with other GMILCS libraries for the sixth and final event in our Art Series with Jane Oneail, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, and Abstract Expressionism. This virtual Zoom program explores the relationships of the artists, their work, and the enduring legacy in this revolutionary movement.

Jane Oneail is an independent scholar and holds a master’s degree in Art History from Boston University and a master’s degree in Art in Education from Harvard University. Jane is a New Hampshire native and has worked at some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, where she served as Executive Director, and the Currier Museum of Art, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane has also taught at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at the NH Institute of Art. Find out more about Jane, and her art programs, on her website: iamculturallycurious.com
