This is an in person program taking place indoors at Nesmith Library.

No registration necessary / For Middle and High School Students and Parents

Nesmith Library will host Nancy Steenson, College Admissions Coach, on Tuesday, April 19 at 6:30 PM for a presentation about what you can be doing to prepare for the college admissions process. Middle and high school students and parents are welcome to attend this presentation in person at Nesmith Library. Topics to be covered will include:

  • Merit scholarships vs. Financial Aid
  • How important are extracurriculars? Do I need to be well-rounded?
  • Writing powerful college essays that get noticed
  • Strategies to increase chance of admission at selective schools
  • What you need to know about standardized tests
  • Recommendations – who to ask, when to ask, what to ask

Please bring your questions for our presenter, Nancy Steenson, a graduate of Tufts University, a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling, and an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association. Nancy served on the Timberlane Regional School Board for six years, and was chairman for two years. Nancy is passionate about education, and has always advocated for strong academics in the public school system in order to prepare students for college. She believes that many students underestimate the college admissions process, and works with them to market themselves in their best light by sharing underutilized strategies that help them distinguish themselves amidst thousands of applicants.
