Downloading eBooks
Instructions for downloading Overdrive
ebooks vary depending on whether you are
using a PC or a Mac, and whether you will
read the title on a Sony Reader, B&N nook or
on your computer. You will need to
sign up for an Adobe ID if you don’t
have one already,
and install Adobe Digital Editions. The
Adobe ID controls the checkout period for
the eBook, sort of like your library card.
If you are using a Sony Reader, then you
also need to have the
Sony Reader Library installed. Choose
your eBooks and check them out through the
NH Overdrive website.
Download to PC, transfer to nook
First time setup:
Authorize your computer with your Adobe ID
Plug your nook into your computer
Authorize your nook with your Adobe ID
Plug your nook into your computer
Authorize your nook with your Adobe ID
To download eBooks:
After your titles are checked out through
Overdrive,
Click on the download button for each title
and choose Open.
This will launch Adobe Digital Editions and
download the title to your computer.
You will see the title in Adobe Digital
Editions.
Switch to the library view (click on the
three standing books in the upper left
corner).
Connect your nook to your computer.
The nook icon will appear below the
bookshelves on the left side of your Adobe
Digital Editions window.
Click and drag the titles to the nook icon.
Then click on the safely remove hardware
icon in the task bar to disconnect your
nook.
