Enjoy our many programs, try our guessing contests, mascot trivia, drop-in crafts, and much more!

For children of all ages! 

Read for the fun of it and receive raffle tickets for great prizes!


 The more you read, the more chances you have to win!  To register for any of the summer programs, simply stop by or call the library at 432-7154.  Please note that registration for a program begins two weeks PRIOR to the program date.

June 24th    Summer Reading Program Registration and Kick-Off Party

Drop in anytime between 1:00-3:00pm

Stop by for five minutes or an hour as you register for the Summer Reading Program, grab a snack, and make a craft.  Registrants that day will receive two special entries for separate raffles to win a Kendall Pond Pizza certificate or two tickets to Story Land!  A special guest, sponsored by F.L.O.W. , will be creating balloon sculptures.  If you cannot make it to the library on June 24th, please note that registration will continue throughout the summer.  Register for the Summer Reading Program at the Nesmith Library and learn more about the fun programs planned for the summer and the fantastic prizes.  No registration required.


June 29th   Teen Volunteer Orientation  1:00pm

If you are 13 years of age or older, and would like to help out in the Children’s Room this summer, come to the meeting on Tuesday, June 29th and learn more.  We could use your help and it’s a great way to earn volunteer hours!

No registration required.


June 30th   Movie Madness  4:00pm  PG rated

Newly released on DVD, this movie for ages 8 and up guarantees an exciting adventure.  Join us in the multi-purpose room for plenty of popcorn as modern and mythical worlds collide in this thunderous fantasy starring the son of Poseidon.

July 1st & 2nd      Fourth of July Craft

Celebrate the 4th of July with this take home craft.

Craft stick American flag kits available at the front circulation desk while supplies last. 


Tuesdays     ~    Drop-In Crafts

   Join us  July 6th, 13th 20th, & 27th

between 1:00-3:00pm to create one of our fun summer  crafts.  These crafts are recommended for children ages 4 and up - accompanied by an adult or guardian.  Crafts available while supplies last.

No registration required.


July 7th     Weekly Whale Watch

Beginning July 7th, our SRP Mascot will be on display in the Children’s Room.  Each week throughout the summer, watch for a new photo to be posted in the children’s room.  Correctly identify the location of the mascot in Windham and receive a raffle ticket to win the SRP Mascot and other prizes.

Adults do not stay in story hour with child but do need to remain in the library.

July 12th    “Ocean Scenes” in Watercolor  1:00pm

Back by popular demand, Kristine Brock leads an hour art

class for children ages 7 and up.

July 12th     Edible Story Time with author Melissa Rossetti Folini 6:00pm

Paddle into the library to enjoy a camp themed story hour with stories, songs, craft, and a treat to make & eat!  Books will be available for signing.  Ages 5 and up.  Parents welcome.

July 13th      Drop-In Craft  1:00-3:00pm

              Recommended for ages 4 and up.

July 14th      Rock with your Tot” and Happy Dan the Music Man!  10:30am  Ages 2 and up accompanied by a caregiver.

A pre-school music and movement program for toddlers and their caregivers, this program includes songs, finger plays, dance, storytelling, circle games and much more.  

                                Registration required beginning June 30th.


July 15th    Author and Illustrator Jay Piscopo  11:00am     

Cruise into the library for a one of a kind presentation.  This

comic book artist invites kids to try their hand at cartoon art

and demonstrates how anyone can learn to draw and create comics. 

11:00am: Ages 7 and up.

July 16th     Coloring Contest Entries Due!


July 19th    Movie Matinee  4:00pm  G rated

Children of all ages are invited to the library to enjoy this

deep sea adventure.  Popcorn and beverages will be provided.  For movie title or more information, please call the library at 432-7154.

July 20th    Drop-In Story Hour  10:00-11:00am

July 21st     Seacoast Science Center presents “Indoor Tide Pooling

10:00am: Ages 5-7 years

11:00am: Ages 7 and up

Children learn about intertidal animals through observation

and a hands-on approach.

Registration required beginning July 7th.


 July 22nd   “Make a SplashBash!  10:00am to Noon

Laugh, splash, play, run in the sun…out on the library lawn!

This program is for children of all ages and includes water play, bubbles, and much more!  Don’t forget to stop by with your family, friends, and a towel!

No registration required.

July 26th    Pizza and Movie Night  5:30-8:00pm  PG rated

If you are 8 years of age or older, (or entering 3rd grade

and up) mark your calendars for this night of movie fun.

5:30-6:00pm:  Arrival time and pizza from

      Ronald McDonald will appear, live and in person, to present

          his adventure, magic, and discovery show!

          This program is for children ages 3 and up, and is a great

photo opportunity.  Bring your cameras!

August 2nd  Museum of Science Presents

              “Rockets: There and Back Again”  11:00am

              Ages 7 and up.

This hands on workshop explores the science behind

rockets and space exploration.

August 3rd  Barbara Bold presents

“Insects…Up Close and Personal” 10:00am

Meet Madagascar hissing cockroaches, crickets and

superworm beetles!  Ages 5 and up.

August 4th   FliRite Learning “Make a Splash in the Past

Ages 6 and up.

Using children’s literature, along with magic, music, and

costumes, learn the impact people have had on history.

August 10th  Hampstead Stage Company presents:

“Alice in Wonderland”

at Windham High School  1:00 pm

Recommended for children in grades K – 8.

Following the performance at the high school, there will be a reception at the Nesmith Library.  Meet and greet the performers after the play!

Registration preferred but not required beginning July 27th.

Ages birth to 5 years.

Infants and toddlers will enjoy actively participating in an ocean themed music and movement class!

Featuring Lon Cerel’s Magic-Pallooza Family Show

The whole family is invited to an outdoor party celebrating a summer of reading!  Don’t miss this amazing summer celebration and entertaining show held outside on the library grounds.  Grand prize raffle winners will be drawn for tickets to Canobie Lake Park and StoryLand.   After the performance, ice cream sundaes will be provided by F.L.O.W., the Friends of the Library of Windham.
