The Friends of the Library of Windham

Annual Strawberry Festival 2008

Photos of the Fun!

Books, books, books, await volunteers to lug them to the Book Sale Room

And the Book Sale room is ready!

Some of the volunteers who lend their time and muscles to move the thousands of books.

Ready to sell!

Volunteers arrived as early as 6 a.m. to help set up in the morning mist.

Helpers  of all ages pitched in.

The Strawberry Festival wouldn't happen without the assistance of Windham Town Maintenance.

Library Director Carl Heidenblad does some last-minute plantings!

FLOW Chair Lisa Thornton with shortcakes.

Up goes the FLOW sign.

Tables and soon-to-be much-needed shade are ready.

Boy Scouts perform opening ceremonies, while the Windham Community Band plays The Star Spangled Banner.

The crowd rolled in!

Some of the Celebrity Grillers who withstood the heat of the day AND of the grills!

Book lovers line up for the book sale.

And Shortcake lovers indulge!

And one of the indispensable Book Fair workers displays some of the results of their hard work.

And of course there was fun for all - from face painting to inflatable-jumping, from karate demonstrations to balloon animals, from pie-eating contests to Swing Band performances.

Of course Windham's Finest were on hand as well.

FLOW had its usual exciting collection of Raffle Items, generously donated by many Windham individuals and businesses.

Thanks to generous Food Sponsors and Donors

....and to the wonderful Festival Sponsors!

Both the Nesmith Library Teen Summer Reading Program ("Creature Feature... Enter the Library if you dare!"), and the regular Summer Reading Program ("G'Day for Reading"), introduced the many fun Summer events at the Nesmith Library.

The Strawberry Festival - like the Library - offers something for everyone....from one's first Festival, to those who have come since its inception!

New events this year included the Canine Freestyle & Drill Team

And a talent show!

But of course the best part was the yummy Strawberry Shortcake!

The Strawberry Festival enables FLOW to help the Library with generous purchases such as the new shelving in the Children's Room this year.
